Police cracking down on failure to use seat belts
- The Harford County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday it is joining with other state and local law enforcement agencies and highway safety officials to launch an aggressive national “Click It or Ticket” seat belt enforcement campaign from May 21 through June 3 to crack down on failure to use seat belts and to reduce highway fatalities.
County is flushing fire hydrants
- The Harford County Public Works Department’s Water and Sewer Division has begun its biannual flushing of the approximately 4,000 fire hydrants in the county. It will take place from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., authorities said, and the work should be done by mid-July.

Ellicott City man killed in crash on Interstate 695
- A 38-year-old Ellicott City man died Tuesday when his 1995 Ford Probe ran off the right side of the Baltimore Beltway, struck a lamp post, veered back onto the highway and ran under a tractor-trailer, state police said.
Five rescued, one missing in Susquehanna River
- Maryland State Police rescued via helicopter three injured people clinging to rocks in the Susquehanna River just north of Harford County on Sunday after a boat plunged down a dam.
Carroll residents invited to dispose of household hazardous waste

- An Anne Arundel County man attacked two children near a Pasadena elementary school, and a Harford parent forced her way onto a school bus, berated the driver and refused to leave, police said.
