Taking stock of the Nats’ progress
- The 2007 season for the Washington Nationals ends Sunday in Philadelphia, after a three-game sweep of the Mets in New York. The team showed Washington their character and heart. Watching a young team develop is exciting.

Braves GM shows why he’s the best
- The trading deadline came and went with only two significant prospects being traded, both from the Atlanta Braves: catcher Jarrod Saltamacchia and shortstop Elvis Andrus going to the Texas Rangers for one of the only true impact players that was moved in All-Star Mark Teixeira. Nats prospects are improving and moving up
- Now that we’re past the halfway point of the season, it’s a great time to check out our future. Under the direction of Assistant GM & VP of Player Development Bob Boone and Director of Player Development Bobby Williams, the Washington Nationals are beginning to see improvements in our prospects.

- The last two June Free Agent amateur drafts, we drafted 14 high school players out of our first 20 selections. This was done by design, as high school players after the first round have proven to have the highest ceilings.

He entered the 2006 draft as a possible top two-round pick, but fell due to injury and sign-ability concerns. He had surgery just before last year’s draft and we picked him in the 13th round. He did not pitch for us last year, but we had him on a rehab program. He’s been clocked at 94 mph in recent outings. He definitely has guts, character and poise.
