Sectarian clashes broke out Friday in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli, killing six people, including a 10 year-old-boy and a policeman, and wounding at least 15, police officials said.

But even as it reaches the zenith of its power in Lebanon, Hezbollah is generating new perils along the way. Hezbollah and its allies solidified their hold on Lebanon's government Friday with the formation of a national unity Cabinet that gives them veto power over government decisions. Hezbollah's leader on Wednesday confirmed for the first time that his group will hand over two captured Israeli soldiers and information on a missing Israeli airman in exchange for five Lebanese prisoners in Israel. At least one person was killed and 28 others wounded early Saturday when a bomb ripped through an apartment building in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli, security officials said. |
