Huet, Kolzig slated to make early appearances against Caps next season
The NHL released a revamped regular-season schedule for the 2008-09 season on Thursday that features plenty of highlights for the Capitals.
Theodore takes spot in front of Capitals net
If the Washington Capitals of two years ago had tried to recruit Jose Theodore, he would have been a tougher catch. A busy summer began in earnest for the Capitals on Tuesday as the organization signed 22-year-old defenseman Mike Green to a four-year contract and a endured a major shake up at the goaltender position. The spending on NHL free agents started Tuesday morning and hadn't stopped well into the evening. And the surprising part was, marquee players such as Marian Hossa, Jaromir Jagr and Mats Sundin still hadn't decided what team would shower them with riches. Brian Campbell is bringing some defense to the Chicago Blackhawks. Campbell, the top free-agent defenseman available Tuesday as the free agent market opened, signed an eight-year deal with the Blackhawks - a young team that already features rising star forwards Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews.
Caps make deals with D Mike Green, G Jose Theodore
The Washington Capitals are keeping the dynamic young star with the oh-my-gosh end-to-end moves, but not the goaltender whose outstanding play helped lead the late surge to the playoffs. |
