An $887.4 million bond measure to pay for retrofitting and new construction at 93-year-old San Francisco General Hospital would cost homeowners an additional $289 in property taxes on a home priced at $500,000, according to a report by the Budget Analyst’s Office. Motorists accustomed to putting the pedal to the metal on Cesar Chavez Street will be forced to start tapping their brakes under plans to rebuild the six-lane arterial to make room for pedestrians, cyclists, neighbors and trees.
