Libraries need to adapt to thrive
I read with interest the July 7 article, “Baltimore-area libraries adapt and thrive, despite economy.” The article is correct in noting that library systems need to actively work to maintain and enhance their relevance within the neighborhoods they serve. I believe, with the advent of the Internet and electronic books, libraries need to find ways to continue to remain “first choice destinations” for their communities. Folks got real comfy at the first annual Kami’s Jammies fundraiser recently at the BWI Ramada, as supporters donned their favorite flannel PJs, boxers and assorted nighties to honor the life of Kami Lambert, who lost her battle with leukemia last September. Kami’s parents Danielle and Chris Lambert, grandparents Debi and Bill Katzenberger, and great-grandmother Jennie Shupe were thrilled at the outpouring of support.
Baltimore County Council mulls windmills, additional historical sites
Backyard windmills could become more prevalent in Baltimore County after lawmakers this week expressed support for them and for homeowners who want them to curb soaring power prices. Patriotism wasn’t going to be washed away this Independence Day, as The Heritage Association of Dundalk held its annual Fourth of July parade despite early-morning showers.
