Giants still very much in NL West chase
The San Francisco Giants have yet to produce the kind of run teams count on when they're in the playoff race. They have been downright lousy at home.
Frantz: Canseco redefines ‘Bash Brother’
Former A’s All-Star Jose Canseco gave new meaning to the term “Bash Brother” Saturday night in Atlantic City, because he got bashed, brother. In his never-ending quest to find new ways in which to humiliate himself, the steroid-abuser-turned-whistle-blower turned up in a boxing ring after issuing an open challenge to any former athlete to fight him for $5,000. Unfortunately for Jose, former Philadelphia Eagles return specialist Vai Sikahema is also known as former amateur Golden Gloves boxer Vai Sikahema — and he does not like Jose. Fernando Tatis turned this into an extra special win for the New York Mets. Tatis homered, doubled twice and drove in four runs and the surging Mets won their sixth straight game Thursday, beating the San Francisco Giants 7-3. Derek Lowe took a perfect game into the seventh inning, Matt Kemp homered and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Braves 2-1 Wednesday night.

A little more than half a season in the Giants’ 2008 bank and I think it is worth posing this question: Are we watching the leftover year from the Barry Bonds era or the inaugural year of next era of Giants baseball?
Giants to broadcast game to military troops
On Wednesday night, thousands of military members will be able to watch the San Francisco Giants host the Chicago Cubs in a special telecast done as a tribute leading up to July 4.
Dickey: Don't count on A's trades yet
In the last year, there has been frequent speculation that the A’s might trade Joe Blanton or Rich Harden. Now, it seems unlikely that they’ll trade either one, for vastly different reasons. |
