Matthew Romei said. At least three of the children were in a hospital Friday night, ranging from fair to serious condition.

If all 5.75 million shares are sold, BioCryst's share count will rise almost 15 percent.

Sporting goods retailer Hibbett Sports Inc. said Thursday its profit rose 15 percent in the third quarter as sales rose and it took better control of inventory and expenses.Based in Birmingham, Ala., the company earned $8.8 million, or 30 cents per share, in the quarter that ended Oct. 31. That is up from the $7.7 million, or 26 cents per share, a year earlier.
