PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN — AT WORLD’S END — 2-DISC LIMITED EDITION: The third in the series of movies based on the Disney theme park ride has something for everyone: great production values, amazing special effects, a convoluted plot with plenty of twists and a handsome, talented cast.

Watching “At World’s End,” Disney’s latest entry in the ongoing misadventures of Capt. Jack Sparrow, it’s easy to forget that the original “Pirates of the Caribbean” was inspired by something as simple as a theme-park ride. Four years later, the franchise has morphed into a labyrinthine juggernaut, with each successive story more convoluted than the last.

From this point forward, we will refer to the endless, stupid, convoluted “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” by its more apt title, “Pirates 3: At Wit’s End.”

There were times during filming of “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” when Orlando Bloom wondered if a pirate’s life was for him, after all.

Despite the buzz, as reported by Scoop!, that their fledgling relationship was cooling off, Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon appeared to be going strong when Web site TMZ spotted them driving down the 101 Freeway in L.A. in Jake’s car.
