910 days ago - The Landover-based nonprofit that employs a Prince George’s County school board member charged with a sex crime put him on paid administrative leave last week, said LaVonn Reedy Thomas, the company’s director of marketing and development.School board member Nathaniel Thomas has worked at Community Teachers Institute since spring 2005, Reedy Thomas said. He is director of planning and program development, and is not related to Reedy Thomas. CTI “supports the creation of partnerships among schools, institutions of higher education and community-based organizations to ‘home grow’ teachers rooted in communities of color,” according to its Web site. Reedy Thomas said CTI never sent Thomas into classrooms on CTI business. “We strictly work with teachers and administrators,” she said. On May 8, Thomas, 26, turned himself in to authorities on a third-degree sex offense over accusations of having sex with a 15-year-old boy.
