Germantown company works to shorten power outages
- A local company has introduced technology it says will make it easier for utility companies to pin down power outages and fix them faster.
Hughes Communications posts record sales
- Germantown-based Hughes Communications Inc., a broadband satellite network services provider, announced a 13 percent increase in revenues for a record $233 million for the period ending March 31. Operating income was also up 45 percent to $13 million, and net income was $4 million, compared with breaking even in the first quarter of 2006.

Advancis closes private placement, raises $24 million
- Advancis Pharmaceutical Co., a Germantown-based company that develops and commercializes anti-infective products, closed its previously announced private placement of common stock and warrants, resulting in $24 million of gross proceeds.
