Many of us read about the administrative law judge from Washington who sued a local dry cleaner for $65 million dollars for losing a pair of pants. The defendants, small-business owners, offered generous amounts of money (first $3,000 then $4,600 and finally up to $12,500) to settle the case out of court, but the plaintiff resisted any urge he might have to relieve our courts of further burden by continuing the case.
