U.S. unveils new military policy for Africa
Rowan Scarborough, The Examiner Apr 24, 2007 8:46 AM (953 days ago)WASHINGTON A planned U.S. Africa Command will not mean a large presence of American troops on the continent, but rather a focus on promoting security and good government, a senior Pentagon official said Monday. Ryan Henry, principal deputy undersecretary of defense for policy, just returned from a tour of six African nations during which he emphasized to leaders, “We were making the effort to keep the footprints small and as unobtrusive as possible on the continent.”
