Major eagle poisoning case investigated on Eastern Shore
C. Boyd Pfeiffer, The Examiner Feb 2, 2007 3:00 AM (1049 days ago)BALTIMORE Three dead bald eagles, one dead fox, one dead owl and one ill bald eagle — all poisoned near the Maryland/Delaware line — are allegedly the result of a chicken farmer lacing a dead chicken with the now-illegal pesticide Furadan, according to information obtained from sources by The Examiner. Further source information alleges that the poison-laced chicken was used in an effort to kill owls preying on ornamental chickens. The eagle deaths were discovered Jan. 20 by Delaware and Maryland Natural Resource Police officers. It is now a Fish and Wildlife Service ongoing investigation.
