Winfield Myers, The Examiner Jul 20, 2006 4:00 AM (1254 days ago)WASHINGTON Recently, as part of a small group, I spent a week in Munich, Brussels, and Berlin visiting diplomats, bureaucrats and politicians. Our host was the Munich-based Hans Seidel Foundation, a government-funded organization that is politically independent, but which is philosophically sympathetic to the Christian Social Union, the Bavarian conservative party. Its government-sponsored budget of some $50 million per year is about twice that of the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C.
