Digital Breakdown: Check out ‘Twister’ on Blu-ray
Peter Brown, The Examiner May 3, 2008 6:00 AM (575 days ago)SAN FRANCISCO Now that the format wars for next-generation DVD have been determined — Blu-ray the winner after the leading HD DVD supporter Toshiba abandoned the technology — we can look forward to seeing some great movies in high-definition. “Twister,” starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton as storm chasers trying to digitally map a tornado, was a big hit in 1996. Do check it out in high definition; the jaw-dropping special effects look simply awesome in Blu-ray. New special extras on both the Blu-ray and a new standard definition “Twister — Two-Disc Special Edition” are several featurettes on the making of the film. Price: $28.99 for Blu-Ray; $20.97 for “Two-Disc Special Edition.” Rent or buy: Buy.
