'19 Kids and Counting’ debuts with a Josie update and a birthday celebration

TLC debuted a new season of 19 Kids and Counting last night. The sixth season began with an in-depth update on Josie Duggar, the 19th child of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, plus an 18th birthday celebration for Jessa, the 5th child in the super-sized Duggar family. Fans were thrilled to catch up with the Duggars and to kick off yet another season of 19 Kids and Counting.

Update on Josie Duggar:

Michelle Duggar began the new season of 19 Kids and Counting by saying, “Josie is doing wonderful. She is just growing and thriving." Jim Bob added, “She is over 11 months old, over 15 pounds and just doing great. We are very blessed.” Mom Michelle reminded fans that Josie was born prematurely at 25 weeks and 4 days old. “We didn’t know if she was going to make it. We were praying for her life and miraculously she was able to recover.” Jim Bob said that Josie has been on oxygen and monitors for most of her life. “We can actually take the monitor off and just have oxygen on her when she sleeps at night,” he told viewers during last night’s premiere. “We’re really excited about the progress she’s made and praise the Lord for how well she’s doing. She’s just a miracle baby,” Michelle stated.

When asked if they would consider having more children after the traumatic birth of Josie, Jim Bob revealed, “It’s a little scary when you think about it. If Michelle gets pregnant again, we don’t know if we will be in the same situation again or not. We really believe that our future is in God’s hands.” Michelle also answered by saying, “Had I known that I would have gone through all that, you know what? I really would do it again because I have Josie. The easy choices in life, I think we could miss out on some of the greatest blessings that God has for us. And so, in the future, if God saw fit, I would be happy to receive another gift.”

Jessa Duggar’s 18th birthday celebration:

Jim Bob Duggar said of his fifth child, “I can’t believe Jessa Blessa is now 18. It won’t be too long before she has her own family.” To celebrate her special day, Jessa chose to go target shooting and skydiving. “It’s about what’s fun for the birthday person. Sometimes we have a big party and sometimes we do a fun activity that they really want to do,” Michelle explained about Jessa’s choices. The entire family loaded into three vehicles and headed out to the shooting range. Concerning his thoughts on guns, Jim Bob said that he purchased a firearm after he was robbed. However, the dad of 19 explained that all firearms are locked up and that he feels it’s important to teach his children about gun safety. “I really want our kids to learn about gun safety and to learn how to shoot a gun for personal protection.”

This was followed up by a skydiving adventure for Jessa and Michelle Duggar. “I’m afraid of heights,” Michelle revealed. However, after a brief training lesson, Michelle and Jessa climbed aboard a small airplane and jumped out, at 13,000 feet above ground. “That was the weirdest feeling I’ve ever experienced! You don’t feel like you’re falling. You just feel like you have a really powerful fan in your face. That was the coolest thing I’ve ever done!” Jessa exclaimed after her high-flying adventure. Michelle added, “That was the biggest adrenaline rush I’ve ever had in my life. It was kind of like floating, but you had this great rush of air.”

New episodes for season six of 19 Kids and Counting continues to air every Monday night on TLC. Here’s what’s in store for next week’s episode.

“Duggars Rock the Vote”: John-David decides to follow in his father’s footsteps and run for political office with the support of the Duggar clan. Later, Joseph follows in his older siblings’ footsteps and gets braces. Finally, Josh and Anna give fans an update on Anna’s pregnancy. Thye new episode airs on Monday, February 1st at 10/9c on TLC.

Don't they know how much suffering Josie went through?
Given the amount of children they have, the age and history of michelle. How can attempting to have another, just because you want one, justify putting another child through so much?
Doesn't it seem wrong to do that..?
It's confusing to me..It's as if michelle has sort of a hoarding problem.
It doesn't seem Ok to take the risk.. Just to try for #20..~!

A life is a blessing and being able to have children is also. The mother has put her body thru alot and depleated her strength and nurishment to sapport two living people. And to have that little baby go thru what she has and to want to have another baby "if that is what God wants" from what the mother says is very upsetting to me. God is telling you something YOUR BODY HAS HAD ENOUGH you have 19 healthy blessings be thankful for that and get your tubes tied or birth control.

Please put the Duggars on earlier so kids can watch. This is an inspiring show that needs to be made into videos and sold to families. My kids are adults now but we all love the program. Earlier, please! Give them a show of their own and we will all be happy! Bring back Sarah Palin too.
